Meet Honni Hayton
Honni Hayton has been practicing as a qualified counsellor for over 12 years. She offers professional and caring counselling to clients. Honni uses a holistic approach when working with people and is passionate about equipping people to live their best life. Honni has experience working with individuals, couples and families to resolve conflict and negotiate ways forward in life. She can assist you with issues such as: unresolved grief, depression, anxiety, separation, communication and relationship issues.
I am passionate about empowering others to live their best life and have dedicated most of my working career to doing just that. After graduating from USQ with a Psychology degree in 1992, I started my career as a Youth Worker at a crisis shelter for homeless teenagers in Brisbane city. After marrying and starting a family I then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Counselling at CHC. In 2004, our love for the country lead us to move to the beautiful Scenic Rim. As well as running my Counselling Practice I have also worked as an Aged Care and Community Chaplain. I have been married to Tony for 25 years and have five amazing children ranging from 24 years to 10.
It is important to choose a counsellor that you have good rapport with. I believe that my experiences, both career wise and personal, assist me to be the counsellor I am today. I am able to draw on my wide range of training and experience to deliver a quality counselling service. I am a true believer that where there is life, there is hope. And even if you can’t see it at the moment, I can help move towards the light at the end of the tunnel.
I value my qualifications and years of training, but at the end of the day, I am not an expert on your life….you are. Together we can look at where you come from, where you are now and where do you want to be in the future.

One of the best things to happen to me
Having online counselling with Honni, to work through some life issues, has been one of the best things to happen to me in the last few years. It was like she just “got” me straight away and has helped me with strategies to overcome some current issues. Honni is down to earth, friendly, reliable and really knows her stuff. I have recommended her to friends as I think she is that good – everyone needs a Honni in their life.
She is wise, she is so easy to talk to, she is real. Life is hard sometimes and Honni recognises this fact, but she is prepared to journey with you through these hard times, to when life is a whole lot brighter.
Honni has compassion and empathises with my situation, I always feel like she is on my side. She sees things which I don’t see and she gently shares with me in a way that makes sense and I come away thinking that there is hope, that situations can change, that I can change.
Honni has stood with people, listened and supported them to find solutions for healing for themselves and to move forward. Honni has a deep passion and compassion for people. She operates from a truly relational base with everyone she interacts with.
Honni has a mature understanding of life and its challenges, is friendly and professional. Honni is a great listener, who is able to put anyone at ease. She has a real interest in people, is non-judgmental and genuinely empathetic.
After I have spent some time with Honni, I always leave feeling better off. Her warm and inclusive manner, her wonderful listening skills and her depth of insight, encourage me in my personal journey every single time.
Honni is a wonderful counsellor. She has special qualities as a person, such as being totally non-judgmental, caring and wise in so many ways. I know when I am with Honni she will always listen, and I can always trust what she has to say.
Having a highly demanding profession both mentally and physically, I’ve reached out to Honni on a number of occasions. She is professional, and she prides herself on her discretion.
It’s hard to find people who are able to really listen these days, Honni is one of those rare people.
